April 15, 2025

Singapore sold around 4,700 mt/day of bio-blended bunkers in March, significantly up from around 3,800 mt/day sold in February, according to preliminary figures from the port authority.

Changes in Singapore alternative fuel sales between February and March:

  • Bio-VLSFO sales up from 85,000 mt to 93,700 mt
  • Bio-HSFO sales up from 22,000 mt to 52,000 mt
  • B100 sales down from 3,800 mt to nil
  • LNG sales up from 30,000 mt to 39,000 mt

Singapore’s bio-blended bunker sales jumped by 36% in March to approximately 145,600 mt, surpassing the previous record of about 145,500 mt set in October. The port delivered an average of 4,700 mt/day of bio-bunkers in March, up from 3,800 mt/day in February.

Of the total biofuel sales, 93,700 mt were VLSFO blended with a bio component—typically 24% bio content in Singapore—while 52,000 mt were HSFO blended with a bio component.

Total biofuel bunker sales for the first three months of the year reached 361,000 mt, nearly three times higher than the 127,000 mt recorded in the same period last year.

LNG bunker sales also rose by 30% in March, reaching their highest level since December. The average stem size increased notably by 187 mt to 1,259 mt. Total LNG bunker sales for the first quarter stood at nearly 102,000 mt, significantly above the 76,000 mt sold in the same period last year.

No methanol bunker sales have been recorded since May last year.
