The four subsidiaries of Hanwha Group include – Hanwha Power Systems, Hanwha Ocean, Hanwha Aerospace and Hanwha Systems.
The partners aim to design a propulsion system that generates thrust from an ammonia-based gas turbine (GT) and electrical power from fuel cells, "enabling a fully carbon-free operation," HMM said.
The project will focus on developing systems for container vessels. It will also include hybrid propulsion combining fuel cells and batteries, along with conducting feasibility studies and designing optimized hull forms.
