Strike action to impact bunker supply in Greece

The upcoming union strike action will impact bunker supply in Piraeus and other Greek ports, two traders told ENGINE.

The Hellenic Petroleum Labour Union has announced the strike from 14 to 16 December, according to GAC Hot Port News.

Once the strike ends on Monday, suppliers are expected to prioritise clearing the backlog it has caused, a trader said. He expects suppliers to resume prompt offers only after Wednesday.

Demand has been low in the Greek port of Piraeus, another trader said. Despite low demand, prompt availability is tight and lead times of 7-10 days are advised for all three grades.

Piraeus' VLSFO is priced about $8/mt lower compared to Istanbul's VLSFO.
