TFG Marine installs first mass flow meter on US Gulf bunker barge

Global bunker supplier TFG Marine has installed a mass flow meter (MFM) on a bunker barge it has on time charter from US bunker barge company Buffalo Marine Service.

MFMs are specialised devices installed on barges to ensure precise and transparent measurements during fuel transfer processes in bunkering. It ensures accurate bunker fuel measurements, reducing errors and disputes between suppliers and bunker buyers.

The bunker barge Buffalo 404 has been fitted with an ISO-certified MFM, marking the first such installation in the US Gulf, according to TFG Marine.

This move is part of TFG Marine’s broader strategy to equip nearly 90% of its global bunkering fleet with MFMs by 2026.
