The two vessels, Gas Libra and Gas Scorpio, will undergo retrofitting at COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry's shipyard in China’s Guangdong during drydock next January.

When burning LPG the vessels can cut their carbon dioxide emissions by up to 18% compared to conventional marine fuels, MAN ES claims. The German engine manufacturer says it has sold about 100 of these dual-fuel LPG engines since 2018.

Last October, Tianjin Southwest placed a order for two other dual-fuel LPG engines with MAN ES, which will be retrofitted onboard two of its very large gas carriers (VLGCs) this May.
