Ship-to-ship (STS) LNG bunkering of Vox Ariane, a hopper dredger vessel operated by Dutch offshore construction company Van Oord, was carried out by Titan’s LNG bunker vessel, Optimus.

A dredger vessel is equipped with specialized machinery for removing sediment and debris from rivers, harbours and sea-beds. Hopper dredger is a specific type of dredger vessel with large onboard hoppers, or storage spaces, which are used to collect and transport dredged material.

Titan has chartered the vessel Optimus, which has a capacity of 6,000 cbm, for LNG bunkering operations in western Europe and the Mediterranean region.

The company announced that this operation marked the first ship-to-ship (STS) bunkering conducted in Cuxhaven, as the port had previously only allowed LNG deliveries via trucks. The port currently permits LNG bunkering at only one berth, Titan added.
