Under the agreement, the companies will collaborate on the construction of hydrogen refuelling stations, liquid hydrogen storage and transportation technologies, hydrogen charging facilities, green methanol applications for shipping, and the development of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

They will also explore setting up a joint venture to combine resources and strengthen hydrogen infrastructure in Hong Kong.

The partnership includes Sinopec subsidiaries - Sinopec (Hong Kong) and Sinopec Star. Sinopec (Hong Kong) operates one of the city’s largest retail networks, serving a broad customer base across petroleum retail and wholesale, as well as aviation and marine refuelling. Sinopec Star specialises in wind and solar power generation, green electricity transmission, and the production, storage, transportation and application of green hydrogen.

The companies have not disclosed further details, including development timelines or operational plans.

“We will leverage our respective advantages in resources, technology and markets to expedite key projects, including hydrogen refueling stations, hydrogen vehicle promotion, green methanol shipping applications and SAF supply,” said Wu Qinggao, director of Sinopec (Hong Kong).
