Trafigura, CF Industries, TFG Marine partner on ammonia bunkering

Global commodity trader Trafigura, nitrogen and hydrogen producer CF Industries, and bunker supplier TFG Marine, have entered a collaboration to advance ammonia bunkering, initially targeting the US Gulf Coast and Northwest Europe.

The partnership brings the three companies together to advance market development, broaden stakeholder participation, and plan the logistics required for safe and scalable bunkering.

CF Industries will anchor the effort with its low-carbon ammonia production and export capacity at its complex in Donaldsonville, Louisiana. Trafigura will add its strengths in commodity logistics and market building, while TFG Marine will deploy its global marine fuel supply network and bunkering capabilities to support fuel delivery, aggregate ammonia bunkering demand, and transport ammonia to bunkering hubs worldwide.

“This collaboration with CF Industries and Trafigura enables us to develop the supply chain and logistics capabilities needed to make low-carbon ammonia bunkering a commercial reality for vessel operators worldwide," TFG Marine’s executive director Kenneth Dam said.
