The 45,000-cbm capacity vessels will be equipped with four cargo tanks capable of carrying liquefied gases such as liquefied petroleum, ammonia and others.
The dual-fuel vessels can operate on ammonia or conventional fuels upon delivery in 2028, HD Hyundai Mipo said.
Their dual-fuel engines will have selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology, which helps reduce nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions by injecting a reducing agent that reacts to form nitrogen and water.
