U-MING takes delivery of dual-fuel LNG-powered bulk carrier from SWS

Taiwan-based shipping company U-MING has received the delivery of a new LNG-powered bulk carrier with a dual-fuel engine from Chinese shipbuilder Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS).

Ubuntu Harmony, a 190,000-dwt bulk carrier, can run on both LNG and conventional marine fuels with the capability of undertaking distances of almost 20,000 nautical miles.

The bulk carrier has been delivered almost 45 days ahead of schedule by SWS.

The shipping industry has been increasingly exploring alternative fuels and new technologies to attain net zero emissions by 2050.
