UniBarge gets methanol bunkering licence in the ARA

Dutch barge operator UniBarge has secured a licence to deliver methanol bunkers in the ARA hub, the firm said in a LinkedIn post.

This announcement follows the company’s bunker tanker Chicago receiving approval from the Birmingham-based certification firm LRQA to load and unload methanol products earlier this month.

Last week, Chicago delivered green methanol to the Eco Umande, a seagoing container vessel, at the Delta Barge Feeder terminal in Rotterdam. The company has not specified the amount of green methanol bunkered.

UniBarge offers barge services in the ARA, Flushing, Hamburg, and German ports along the Rhine, extending up to Switzerland
