US-based Plug Power will provide 10 proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolysers to Uniper for its green hydrogen project in the Port of Rotterdam's Maasvlakte area.

German energy major Uniper plans to deploy 100 megawatts (MW) of Plug electrolysis capacity to produce green hydrogen by 2026. It plans to increase the capacity to 500 MW by 2030.

“The H2Maasvlakte project marks a significant milestone for Europe’s transition to more sustainable, localized energy in response to geopolitical risk and climate change,” said Andy Marsh, chief executive of Plug Power.
