US crude oil production in May marked a 2.2% year-on-year growth, the EIA reported.

Texas pumped about 5.6 million b/d in May, while output in New Mexico – part of the Permian Basin – rose to about 2.2 million b/d during the same period, the US energy agency reported.

The EIA has projected crude oil production in the US to average about 13.4 million b/d in 2025 and 2026.

“Declining oil prices have contributed to U.S. producers slowing their drilling and completion activity this year,” the EIA said in its latest oil market report.

In its monthly oil market report, the Saudi Arabia-led OPEC oil producers' group has projected a similar growth in US crude supply for the upcoming year. The country's total crude oil output is expected to touch about 13.3 million b/d in 2026.
