US gas rig count climbs up

The number of rigs drilling for crude oil and natural gas rose by four to 585 units last week, according to Baker Hughes.

The number of oil rigs remained unchanged at 479, while the natural gas rig count rose by four to 101. There were also five miscellaneous rigs in operation, unchanged from the previous week.

The total US oil and gas rig count was down by 95 rigs, or 14% from a year earlier.
