US rig count grows for third straight week

The number of rigs extracting crude oil and natural gas in the US rose by one to 625 last week, Baker Hughes has reported.

Crude oil rigs rose by two to 504, after a rise in the biggest US oil field - the Permian Basin of Texas. The Permian oil rig count stood at 306 units last week. Meanwhile, the US natural gas rig count dropped by one unit to 117 last week.
In October, drillers increased the count of oil and gas rigs by two, marking the first monthly rise since March.
The total US oil and gas rig count was down by 143 from a year earlier.
