Under the deal, the company will purchase a B30 biofuel blend containing 70% conventional oil-based marine fuel and 30% biofuel.
It expects ExxonMobil to start delivering the biofuel blend from the second half of this year, with the first delivery slated for July.
The move is in sync with Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s intentions “of achieving a net-zero emissions integrated supply chain service by 2027.”
Biofuel “is the best option we have available for decarbonization of the fleet today,” Tarjei Kråkenes, head of Orcelle Accelerator at Wallenius Wilhelmsen, says.
