Wärtsilä to build engines for Poland’s first LNG-fuelled RoPax vessels

The LNG-fuelled engines can run on conventional LNG and bio-LNG and are expected to run entirely on bio-LNG by 2025.

Finnish technology group Wärtsilä has signed a deal with Polish Remontowa Shipyard to supply engines, fuel storage and supply systems for the county’s first three vessels of the kind.

The vessels will will have capacity to carry 400 passengers and have 4,100 lane meters for vehicles. They are planned to operate between Swinoujscie in Poland and the Swedish ports of Ystad and Trelleborg.
