The three 9500 DWT vessels are currently being built at the Royal Bodewes shipyard in the Netherlands, Wärtsilä said. The vessels will be equipped with a Wärtsilä diesel engine along with battery systems.
The hybrid system will enable the vessels to operate entirely on electricity during port visits and cargo operations, while the diesel engine will serve as the primary propulsion source for the rest of the voyages.
Wärtsilä will deliver its equipment in December 2025 and 2026, the company said. It has already delivered a similar hybrid propulsion solution to two earlier vessels owned by Aasen Shipping - the Aasfoss and Aasfjell.
