The test was conducted in mid-December at CSSC-MES Diesel (CMD) in Shanghai.

The engine operated with less than 5% pilot fuel and minimal pilot fuel injector opening times, which refers to the shortest duration the injector stays open to ensure proper ignition. WinGD reported excellent engine performance.

The trip function, which switches the engine from methanol to diesel during faults or abnormal conditions, was also tested at 45% and 75% engine load.

The success of this trial indicates that WinGD remains on track for a timely delivery to the yard. The engine is set to be installed on the fourth of a series of 16,000 TEU container vessels being constructed for COSCO Shipping Lines at COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou) shipyard. These vessels will be delivered from 2025.
