The vessel - Viking Queen - can run on both LNG and conventional marine fuels. It has been contracted for a period of 12 months to support the company's operations in Norway. The contract will commence in the second quarter of this year.
Wintershall Dea has an option to further extend the duration of the contract.
The supply vessel is also equipped with a battery hybrid system and shore power.
The move shows “Wintershall Dea’s willingness to commit to solutions that are more environmentally friendly,” said Eidesvik Offshore’s chief executive and president Gitte Gard Talmo.
Eidesvik Offshore’s supply vessel, Viking Princess, is also contracted to Wintershall Dea. The vessel had its contract extended from July 2023 to January 2024 recently.
