The container ship MSC Daria was supplied with around 2,000 cbm (894 mt) of LNG at the Songyu Container Terminal, using the LNG bunkering vessel Haiyang Shiyou 301. This marks not only Xiamen Port’s first STS LNG bunkering but also Fujian province’s first LNG supply operation.
With this operation, Xiamen joins other Chinese ports—Shanghai, Ningbo, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou—in providing LNG bunkering services.
“Compared to diverting to neighboring ports, this saves at least one to two days of sailing time, which is expected to attract more international vessels to Xiamen Port,” according to a statement from the Xiamen Free Trade Zone.
