Yanmar targets marine hydrogen engine testing by 2029

Japanese engine maker Yanmar Power plans to test marine hydrogen combustion engines at its planned factory in Amagasaki City, Hyogo Prefecture, by March 2029.

The company has not yet confirmed a timeline for the commercial deployment of the engines.

Yanmar added that it also plans to develop powertrains compatible with methanol and ammonia and “establish corresponding production systems.”
