Navigator Amon Shipping is a joint venture between UK-based Navigator Holdings (Navigator Gas) and Norway’s Amon Maritime.

The 51,000-cbm capacity dual-fuel vessels will be able to operate on ammonia as well as conventional fuels.

“They will provide reliable, year-round access to Northern Europe while enabling the use of renewable and low-emission fuels,” YCA added.

The gas carriers will be built by China’s Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering, with delivery scheduled for June and October 2028, Navigator Holdings said earlier.

They will be designed to carry both liquefied ammonia and liquefied petroleum gas.

“This contract is a logistical and cost-efficient way to move large volumes of ammonia to Europe,” said Hans Olav Raen, chief executive officer of YCA.
