"This move is a major milestone for Yara" to aid decarbonisation of energy intensive sectors, including shipping, Yara’s president and chief executive Svein Tore Holsether said.

Green hydrogen produced at this facility will be used to produce ammonia, which the company intends to use for both shipping and fertilizer sectors.

The facility will produce green hydrogen through an electrolysis process, where water is split into hydrogen and oxygen using electricity from renewable energy sources such as wind or solar.
