Under the contract, Zinus will supply a fully autonomous direct current (DC) charging tower to support vessel electrification at the wharf.
The contract was awarded by UGL Transport, with the end customer being Transport for New South Wales (NSW).
Shore-to-ship power, or “cold ironing”, is an electrical power supply provided to ships when they are docked at ports.
Instead of running the engines onboard to power the essential systems while docked at ports, shore power facilities allow ships to connect to the local electrical grid.
