ABS awards approval to a new ammonia dual-fuel bunkering vessel

Classification society American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) has approved an ammonia dual-fuel bunkering vessel and medium range carrier design developed by Norwegian shipping company Færder Tankers Norway.

The 50,000 cbm-capacity bunkering vessel, the Workhorse, developed in collaboration with Chinese ship designer SDARI, features three independent liquid cargo tanks and will be able to use ammonia for propulsion.

It is designed to transport liquid ammonia and conduct bunkering operations. It will also be capable of carrying LPG.
