Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping (MMMCZCS) showcased the design at an industry summit in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The vessel, designed by Seaspan with assistance from Finnish ship designer Foreship, is part of the second phase of the "SABRE project".

SABRE is a pilot project spearheaded by maritime non-profit MMMCZCS to examine ammonia bunkering in Singapore.

The SABRE consortium will construct ammonia bunker vessels and infrastructure under the project. Seaspan's container ship will test the practicality of bunkering ammonia from bunker vessels.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore is likely to start ammonia bunkering by 2026. This is following the delivery of ammonia-fuelled vessels and once the safety standards for ammonia bunkering are in place.

Developing ammonia-fuelled vessels will encourage ammonia suppliers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to invest in ammonia, Seaspan’s chief operating officer Torsten Pedersen added.
