The methanol-powered deep-sea container vessel bunkered 4,300 mt of green methanol and 1,375 mt of biodiesel (B100) during the port stay.
The bunkering operation took place at the MSC PSA European Terminal (MPET). Two barges were deployed to deliver 4,300 mt of green methanol for the vessel. Another barge delivered 1,375 mt of biodiesel to the deep-sea ship.
This is the second methanol bunkering operation in the Port of Antwerp-Bruges. The first was in June 2023 when 475 mt of methanol was supplied to the tanker Stena Pro Marine.
Danish shipping company A.P. Moller-Maersk launched the Ane Maersk container ship in January this year. The vessel has a dual-fuel engine that can run on methanol, biodiesel or conventional marine fuel. It is the first of Maersk’s 18 large methanol-enabled vessels to be delivered between 2024 and 2025.
