In June, the company inked a deal with CIMC SOE to build two dual-fuel mid-sized LPG/ammonia carriers. The agreement had an option of adding two more vessels. Avance Gas has exercised that option recently.

The vessels will be able to run on LPG or conventional marine fuels. They will also be equipped with shaft generators, which utilise waste heat from the main engine to generate additional power, thereby improving the vessels' fuel efficiency.

The four 40,000 cbm-capacity carriers will be fully capable of carrying ammonia in addition to LPG.

“These ships are not only perfect for the LPG trade but also ammonia trade as parcel sizes for ammonia cargoes tend to be in this size lot,” Avance Gas’ chief executive Oystein Kalleklev says.

The recently ordered two new carriers are scheduled for delivery in the second and fourth quarters of 2026.
