Biofuel Bunker Snapshot: POMEME barge price gain cushions Rotterdam B30-VLSFO drop

Conventional VLSFO prices down on the week

Lisbon’s B30-VLSFO discount to Gibraltar widens sharply

Peninsula says B100 demand has increased in the Netherlands

ARA and Europe

Rotterdam’s B30-VLSFO (POMEME) price has fallen $21/mt in the past week.

The Dutch port’s conventional VLSFO price has dropped by a greater $68/mt.

Conversely, Prima Markets has assessed a $59/mt gain in its ARA POMEME barge price. This gain in the biofuel feedstock price may have limited the B30-VLSFO blend price decline by cushioning the impact from VLSFO’s price drop.

Meanwhile, Gibraltar’s B30-VLSFO (UCOME) price has eked out a gain of $10/mt on the week, despite a sharp $73/mt drop in the port’s conventional VLSFO price.

Comparatively, the B30-VLSFO price in Portugal’s Lisbon has dropped $83/mt in the last week. This has widened Lisbon’s discount to Gibraltar by $93/mt in a single week.

Lisbon’s B30-LSMGO price has dropped $126/mt in the last week. Rotterdam’s B30-LSMGO (POMEME) price has fallen $105/mt.

In Greece’s Piraeus, the B30-LSMGO (UCOME) price has dropped by $68/mt in the last week. The port’s conventional LSMGO price has dropped by a greater $133/mt.

Rotterdam’s B30-LSMGO now offers a $107/mt discount to Lisbon’s B30-LSMGO, and a $151/mt discount to Piraeus’ B30-LSMGO.

Singapore

Singapore’s B30-VLSFO (UCOME) blend has dropped $101/mt during the week.

This is sharper than the $57/mt drop in the port’s conventional VLSFO price.

The blend’s premium over Singapore's conventional VLSFO price has narrowed by $44/mt in the last week.

In other biofuel news this week, demand for biofuel grades, particularly B100, has increased in the Netherlands due to regulatory incentives and elevated gasoil prices which have made B100 more attractive on a relative basis, Peninsula told ENGINE.

Spanish energy firm Repsol has started producing renewable diesel at its plant in the Puertollano Industrial Complex, which could be used for bunkering.

Danish logistics provider Scan Global Logistics (SGL) will continue using Hapag-Lloyd’s book-and-claim system to reduce greenhouse gas emissions linked to its shipping operations. Under the arrangement, SGL will book cargo shipments with Hapag-Lloyd and claim emission reductions linked to the use of UCOME biofuel across Hapag-Lloyd’s fleet.

Kamei has carried out Japan’s first ship-to-ship (STS) bunker delivery of 100% hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO100) in the Keihin port area.
