Biofuel Bunker Snapshot: Two Asian bio firsts
Singapore bio-fossil premiums widen
Fratelli becomes latest B100 Singapore supplier
Bangchak Sriracha claims Thailand’s first bio-bunkering

Rotterdam
Rotterdam’s B30-VLSFO HBE price has climbed marginally up amid countering bio-fossil price movements and roughly steady HBEs. ENGINE’s VLSFO price has shed $13/mt in the past week. POMEME assessed by PRIMA Markets has gained $11/mt and PRIMA’s HBE rebate for B30 blends has held steady at around $100/mt.
The ARA’s B30-VLSFO UCOME – which is not HBE-rebated – has also gone up by a similar amount. A big $37/mt jump in the UCOME FOB ARA price assessed by PRIMA has provided upward pressure which has been countered by the VLSFO drop.
Singapore
B24-VLSFO and -LSMGO UCOME prices are both down markedly in Singapore. They have come down amid $26-30/mt falls in pure VLSFO and LSMGO values. A $10/mt gain for PRIMA’s UCOME FOB China assessment - a key price for biofuel exported to Singapore - has not been enough to prevent the B24 declines. But it has contributed to widen B24 blend premiums over pure VLSFO and LSMGO by $8-9/mt.
B24-VLSFO is now $163/mt more expensive than VLSFO on an outright basis, while B24-LSMGO is $134/mt more expensive than LSMGO.
Fratelli Cosulich joined the ranks of B100 bunker suppliers in Singapore when it delivered its first pure biofuel stem to a Norden ship. IMO Type II chemical tankers are required to carry more than 25% biofuel in the port and Fratelli has another three of these on order for deliveries next year.
A Thai supplier has also claimed a first. Bangchak Sriracha Public Company became the first known supplier to deliver biofuel in Thailand when it supplied 470 mt of B24-VLSFO in Laem Chabang Port.
