The value of EU petroleum oil imports dropped more sharply, down 18.3%, reflecting lower international crude prices during the period, the statistical office of the EU reported.
Norway remained the primary supplier of crude oil to the bloc in the third quarter of last year, accounting for 14.6%. The US came in second, with about 14.5%. Kazakhstan supplied about 12.2% of crude oil to the EU, according to Eurostat.
Oil market analysts assume crude oil imports from Russia to have fallen sharply in 2025.
Notably, the European Commission (EC) and the US have imposed sanctions and price caps on Russian crude exports to curb Moscow’s energy revenues following its invasion of Ukraine, now entering its fourth year.
