Offshore construction vessels are specialised ships that support the installation, maintenance and construction of offshore energy infrastructure, including wind farms, oil platforms and subsea pipelines.
The new vessel will be methanol-ready, meaning it will initially run on conventional marine fuels but be built to allow future retrofitting for methanol use.
It will also be equipped with a 1,000 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery system.
The OCV will be built at PaxOcean’s Zhoushan shipyard in China and is scheduled for delivery in 2028.
Once delivered, it will join DEME’s existing cable installation vessels, Living Stone and Viking Neptun.
