Environmental activist group Action Network has joined a campaign against a proposed LNG bunker facility on Canada's Tilbury Island, urging citizens to call on British Columbia's Premier David Eby to stop the project.

Local natural gas firm FortisBC plans to expand its LNG bunker facility on Tilbury Island near Vancouver by adding two LNG jetties.
However, environmental activist groups have opposed LNG projects, saying that extracting and burning fossil fuels still pollutes the environment even if gas is cleaner than oil. For jetty or bunkering projects, LNG can cause methane leaks or “slips” in port and at sea, the Action network said.
The Action Network’s campaign comes after two other environmental groups, Wilderness Committee and Stand.earth, urged climate activists to join their letter-writing campaigns to pressure the Canadian government to reject the Tilbury expansion and prioritise building out renewable fuel infrastructure.
