The engine has been selected for four car carriers being built for Norwegian shipowner Global Car Carriers (GCC). The dual-fuel technology will allow the engines to operate on both methane and conventional fuels.

The order covers four engines, which will be built by CSSC Engine in Qingdao, China. The engines will be installed on four 8,600-CEU car carriers currently under construction at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Nanjing, China.

The new engine design will offer "operational flexibility, the highest fuel efficiency, negligible methane slip and proven reliability based on the Diesel-cycle combustion principle,” said Christian Ludwig, Everllence’s vice president and head of global sales & promotion for its two-stroke business.

Everllence has not disclosed further details about this project, including the delivery schedule for the engines or the vessels’ intended deployment.
