FueLNG Venosa, which has a total capacity of 18,000 cbm, loaded the LNG from Seapeak carrier Pan Africa on 30 May. FueLNG is a joint venture between Keppel Offshore & Marine and Shell Singapore.
The company, however, did not specify how much quantity of LNG was loaded into FueLNG Venosa.
LNG has become widely popular among shipowners. The global LNG fleet is currently made up of 388 vessels, with another 156 expected to join this year, according to classification society DNV data.
LNG can curb carbon dioxide emissions by about a quarter compared to conventional bunker fuels. But its methane emissions can be 36 times more potent as a GHG compared to carbon dioxide over a century, according to a World Bank study.
FueLNG chartered the bunker supplier Venosa from Korea Line LNG and christened it in April. The company also operates FueLNG Bellina, which is also Singapore's first LNG bunker vessel.
