The other partners involved are the Center for Houston's Future, Waterstofnet, Exmar and the Blue Sky Maritime Coalition.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed to boost transatlantic cooperation in green shipping. The partners will initially work on preparing a road map for establishing the green corridor. They have also invited other maritime stakeholders to join the project.

The cooperation between the US and Europe is driven by recent regulation changes and a shared commitment to reach ambitious climate goals. Some of the largest energy producers in the world are located in the Houston area. The area is increasingly generating renewable and low-carbon energy, which opens doors to future export opportunities.
