The vessel, Oceanus Highway, has a capacity of 6,900 vehicles. It can operate on both LNG and conventional marine fuels. The company has not disclosed additional details, including its deployment plans.
“LNG fuel is expected to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), a greenhouse gas (GHG), by 25% to 30%,” according to K Line.
While LNG can lower CO2 emissions by about a quarter compared to conventional bunker fuels, a World Bank study highlights that its methane emissions can be 36 times more potent as a GHG than CO2 over a century.
