The vessel, Pontus Highway, was built by China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Jiangsu), K Line said. It is equipped with Swiss engine manufacturer WinGD's dual-fuel LNG engine.

In September, the Japanese shipowner also welcomed another LNG-powered car carrier to its fleet, the Nereus Highway, featuring the same WinGD engine.
