Russian businessman Gennady Timchenko has a stake of around 23% in Volga Group-owned Novatek, and has been included in the EU's sanctions list which prohibits business with the company, says KN.

KN operates the Klaipeida LNG terminal and handles LNG cargoes purchased by users of the LNG terminal.

Novatek group does not have any contracts with KN, but it supplies LNG to the terminal's users.

“In the absence of information that LNG terminal users are complying with the sanctions, Novatek's acceptance of cargo at the LNG terminal is suspended,” KN said in a statement.

According to KN, 62% of the gas consumed in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Finland last yera went through this LNG terminal, with most of it imported from the US.
