The project has been named Green Coast and once operational, Elyse, a French energy firm, plans to produce 150,000 mt of e-methanol a year at the site.

The duo is currently carrying out a feasibility study for the project. The study's findings will be released in 2025. The Green Coast project will be located in the Loire estuary’s industrial area.

In November 2023, Nantes Saint-Nazaire Port announced that Lhyfe would establish an industrial production unit for green hydrogen. The French renewable hydrogen producer, Lhyfe, in July announced its partnership with Elyse Energy to produce e-methanol from renewable hydrogen at the Nantes Saint-Nazaire port.

Lhyfe and Elyse Energy have not specified when the construction of the proposed plant will begin.
