LNG bunkering is now available in 222 ports across the world, with 62 more ports planning to offer, a report from industry body Sea-LNG has said.

The number of LNG bunker vessels in operation has increased to 62 in 2025, compared to just one in 2016. There are around 38 more bunker vessels on order, Sea-LNG said.
China accounted for almost a quarter of global LNG bunker volumes in 2025, while Singapore saw its LNG bunkering volumes rise by around 24% from January to November, compared with the same period a year earlier, according to Sea-LNG’s study.
Rotterdam’s LNG bunkering growth was limited to 3%, with the report attributing the slower pace to volumes being increasingly distributed across other ports in the ARA hub.
Separately, data from the Port of Antwerp-Bruges showed a sharp 237% year-on-year jump in LNG bunker sales in the first three quarters of 2025, compared with the same period in 2024.
Bunkering of liquified biomethane (LBM), or bioLNG, has also expanded in Europe due to regulatory compliance demand and voluntary customer-related commitments, the report said.
BioLNG bunkering operations have taken place in key ports across Belgium, France, Finland, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the UK. Around 10 suppliers are offering LBM.
Sea-LNG highlighted that over the last 10 years, investment in LNG dual-fuel vessels and related fuel supply chains has crossed $150 billion.
There are now 846 LNG-capable vessels in operation, and another 642 on order for deliveries by 2033, class society DNV’s data has said.
