In December 2022, the construction of the first large ship started at the HHI shipyard in South Korea. The hull was launched on 6 October, and the vessel is expected to become operational in early 2024.

Each of the 12 ships will have a capacity of 16,200 TEU, with a length of 350 meters and a width of 53.5 meters.

The first eight ships are scheduled to be delivered in 2024, while the remaining four will be delivered in 2025.

Maersk has placed an order for 25 methanol-powered container carriers from Hyundai Heavy Industries, Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, and Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group as part of its efforts to achieve decarbonisation goals.
