Maersk will test 10% ethanol blend on dual-fuel methanol vessel
Danish shipping firm A.P. Moller–Maersk is testing a blend of 90% e-methanol and 10% ethanol (E 10) on one of its methanol-capable dual-fuel containerships.

The e-methanol is supplied by Danish producer European Energy, while the ethanol supplier has not been disclosed.
The vessel, Laura Maersk, will consume the blend over a 30–45-day trial period, Peter Normark Sorensen, senior fuel transition manager at Maersk, said.
Maersk aims to assess differences between standard methanol and the E10 blend in ignition quality, combustion properties, corrosion, lubricity and emissions profile through this trial, Sorensen explained.
“The goal is to understand how ethanol performs in our dual-fuel engines and whether it can become part of our future fuel mix,” Maersk added.
