The chemical company, which makes ammonia-based fertilizers and produces chemicals for the mining and quarry industries, has production facilities in Newcastle and Gladstone.
Orica is now "exploring technology deployment opportunities for renewable hydrogen and renewable ammonia production" near these facilities to help its customers meet their environmental, social, and governance goals.
The duo will also look into creating demand opportunities for renewable hydrogen and ammonia in various sectors, including shipping.
E-fuels produced using green or renewable hydrogen are gaining a lot of traction from the shipping industry, as the sector is looking for ways to decarbonise operations.
