MOL unveils LNG carrier equipped with wind-assisted propulsion
Japanese shipping firm Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has launched its wind-assisted propulsion system (WAPS)-equipped LNG carrier at Hanwha Ocean’s Geoje Shipyard in South Korea.

The 174,000-cbm LNG carrier, Fujin Sailor, is fitted with two large, rigid telescopic sails designed to provide supplementary wind propulsion.
The vessel is scheduled for delivery under a long-term charter to Chevron at the end of this month, MOL said.
Fujin Sailor is the fourth vessel in MOL’s fleet to be equipped with WAPS.
MOL has ordered WAPS for 11 vessels and aims to have 25 vessels equipped with the technology by 2030, rising to 80 by 2035.
