Molgas completes LNG bunkering for LCO2 carrier in Norway
Bunker supplier Molgas has completed a cool-down and LNG bunkering operation for a dual-fuel liquefied carbon dioxide (LCO2) carrier in Øygarden, western Norway.

The operation was carried out on Northern Pathfinder, operated by Northern Lights – a CO2 carrier operator jointly owned by energy firms Equinor, Shell and TotalEnergies.
During a cool-down procedure, storage tanks are gradually cooled from ambient to cryogenic temperatures by spraying LNG through tank nozzles. This process is required before LNG loading because the fuel would immediately vaporise if transferred into warm tanks.
The cool-down operation was carried out near Molgas’ production facility and LNG bunkering was completed at Northern Lights’ own LNG terminal in Øygarden.
The LNG stem was delivered to the vessel by bunker tanker Bergen LNG, with the fuel supplied from Molgas’ nearby production facility.
