MPCC and its various charter customers will mutually share the methanol retrofit costs. It will also extend the time charter agreements for vessels undergoing retrofits.

The container shipping firm is yet to confirm the expected costs for retrofitting dual-fuel methanol engines, capable of running on both conventional marine fuels and methanol.

Separately, MPCC has jointly invested in the construction of a 1,250-TEU dual-fuel methanol-capable newbuild with multi-regional feeder company Unifeeder.

The vessel is expected to be delivered in late 2026 and will operate under a 7-year time-charter agreement with Unifeeder.
