Construction of the station will start next year, and MT Group will provide two years of warranty maintenance for it. Some of the green hydrogen produced at the station will be utilised for port operations, with plans to refuel commercial ships arriving at the port in the future, it said.

MT Group will handle the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of the technological equipment for the hydrogen station, including the installation of technological systems and the integration of electrical, automation, and safety systems, the company said.

The project is valued at €10.5 million ($11.3 million). “This will be the first hydrogen station in the Baltic States,” the company said.

The green hydrogen will be produced using electrolysis with a polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) electrolyzer, MT Group said. The station is expected to produce around 500 kg/day of hydrogen, which will be stored in high-pressure 550-bar and very high-pressure 1000-bar stationary tanks.
