Salina Cruz LNG is a joint venture between two US-based LNG suppliers, Pilot LNG and GFI LNG.
It plans to cater to LNG bunker demand from vessels along the west coast of Mexico, Central America, the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal and the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles in California, Salina Cruz LNG stated in its social media post.
The liquefication facility is expected to produce 340,000 mt/year of LNG, with operations scheduled to begin in 2027.
The plant will also include land-based storage facilities and a floating storage unit (FSU) with an estimated capacity ranging from 50,000 to 140,000 cbm, the company said.
The company has not specified whether it plans to deploy any LNG bunker vessels to support its physical operations.
